JACKETED VESSELS

There many examples that show better performance using dimpled jacket of the type “I” instead conventional system such as coil, half-pipe or double wall.
With the same pressure inside the jacket the wall thickness is less, so this reduction allows:

  • Less costs for row material and working time
  • better thermal exchange
  • better efficiency

Using dimpled jacket type “I” is possible to cover almost the entire surface, also with nozzles or other disturbing elements.
Thermal exchange rate is higher because it is possible to optimise internal air space to the media and process requirements; it is possible to use free dimple disposal for best fluid dynamic.
It is possible to jacket different shapes (cochlea container, formed head, conical bottom etc) with excellent thermal performance also using water or oil as media.
Thin wall thickness are permitted with steam or high pressure in the jacket.
In vessels designed for vacuum or pressure lower than atmosphere, the jacket can be used or contributed for the calculation of the wall thickness as part (finite element calculation) thus reducing the wall thickness for consideration under external pressure.
The jacket shape allows high cycling (pressure and thermal) without fatigue problems.
High temperature difference between thermal media and products inside the vessel does not create undesired stresses or troubles to the jacket, due to the different expansion rate.
The jacketed technology allows a great thickness reduction for the vessel in comparison to other traditional systems and important prices economy.

Materials: aluminium, nickel, super alloy, titanium, zirconium, tantalum.

JACKETED PIPING AND FITTINGS

FBM HUDSON ITALIANA’s experience in a special shape heat exchanger production granted the knowledge to cool and heat every kind of surfaces.
The large size and sophistication of our machinery allow us to develop a standard production of jacketed piping and fittings.

SPECIAL FITTINGS
FBM HUDSON ITALIANA can supply small and large special fittings using the more economical jacket system related to the design requirement.
Typical productions are tees, conical reductions (symmetrical and eccentric) caps and dished heads and all special configurations

WHY CHOOSE FBM HUDSON ITALIANA JACKETED PIPING?

  • Fully automatic production of jacketed sections.
  • Low cost due to minimum required thickness.
  • All shapes jacketing.
  • Acceptance by all pressure vessel Design Code.
  • Better heat transfer due to the low pipe thickness.
  • Very high jacket design pressure with minimum wall thickness.
  • Optimisation of section and shape of jacket to allow all heat transfer media (water, thermal, oil, freon, ammonia, etc)
  • Low construction tolerance to revamp existing piping.
  • Uniform temperature control of all surfaces (including under the saddles and brackets).
  • Application of stiffening rings without jacket interruption.
  • Large opening reinforcement inside the fitting.
  • All nickel and super alloy available included titanium and pure aluminium.
  • Testing experience and instrumentation with helium leak detector to avoid water weight.

CRYOGENIC VESSELS

THERMAL SHROUDS FOR SPACE SIMULATOR

FBM HUDSON ITALIANA “G” or “I” plates are commonly used in critical environmental situations such as cryogenic temperature and ultra high vacuum.

FBM HUDSON ITALIANA :

  • produce shrouds with design temperature in the range 1.8 K/ 600 K, with shape and section for liquid or gas helium, nitrogen and most of other fluids.
  • design and manufacture cryogenic vessels, including thermal and structural calculation, mechanical details for special flanges, etc.
  • customize surface treatments (different selecting painting and polishing ) are usually available.
  • have achieved great experience in temperature control (by radiation) for super conducing magnets, resonance cavities, space simulators, etc.

HV & UHV Chambers
The experience achieved in manufacturing thermal shrouds for UHV field allows FBM Hudson Italiana to be competitive in the construction of large size vacuum chambers, in stainless steel or special materials such as aluminium, mumetal, hastelloy.

Thanks to several mass spectrometers and large capacity vacuum pumps we can perform helium leak test with high accuracy.
Besides production machines ( plasma arc welding equipments, precision rolling machine, test equipment and instruments) which grant competitive edge on HV and UHV chambers.
